Proyectos de investigación Beauty Technology The concept stemmed from an anti-disciplinary perspective; computing, chemistry, biotech, body anatomy, human behavior, electronics and design. Conductive Makeup, Tech Nails, Hairware and FX e-makeup are Beauty Technologies. Within this realm, imagine that with a blink of your eye, you could turn on lights, move your fingernails to open a door, and touch your hair to record a conversation. PUC RIO DE JANEIRO Mayo 2010 Agosto 2015 KATIA FABIOLA CANEPA VEGA
PONTIFICIA UNIVERSIDAD CATOLICA DE RIO DE JANEIRO - PUC RIO Marzo 2010 Octubre 2012 HUGO FUKS
Proyectos de investigación Skrin Skrin extends the horizon of expectation of human-machine fusions by blurring the lines between nature and technology. An intimance dialogue between the human and living electric organisms in a sensorial spine exposes fashion tech beyond clothing and under the epidermis. MIT MEDIA LAB Enero 2016 Agosto 2016 KATIA FABIOLA CANEPA VEGA
Proyectos de investigación Winkymote Our FX emakeup is a second skin that identify the face’s movements. The special effects approach hides the electronics of the makeup by using a material that mimics skin. The application Winkymote is an infrared remote control for individuals with quadriplegic disability. Winkymote simulates a remote control device for interacting not only with on-the-shelf appliances like TV sets but also with intelligent objects made with a specific purpose in mind such as a projector and a TV. PONTIFICIA UNIVERSIDAD CATOLICA DE RIO DE JANEIRO - PUC RIO Julio 2013 Enero 2014 KATIA FABIOLA CANEPA VEGA
Proyectos de investigación The Dermal Abyss The Dermal Abyss project aims to embed electronics or other behaviour system inside the epidermis. We will explore different techniques in in-skin ancient techniques, cosmetics development, tattooing, surgery and injectable to create an interactive skin. The body surface is rendered an interactive display by patterning into the skin biosensors whose colors change in response to variations in the interstitial fluid. MIT MEDIA LAB Marzo 2016 Setiembre 2016 KATIA FABIOLA CANEPA VEGA
Proyectos de investigación Chromoskin We are experimenting with different chromic pigments in order to create eyeshadows, eyeliners and lipsticks that are interactive. Our aim is to trigger different colors depending of different states of the user, time and environment. Makeup and electronics are combined to create this illusion. MIT MEDIA LAB Octubre 2015 Agosto 2016 KATIA FABIOLA CANEPA VEGA
Proyectos de investigación Carnival Masks Carnival Masks is a skin interface developed for creating interactive face painting. By combining face painting and electronics embedded into FX makeup 300 masks were created. They included LEDs that react to music beats accordingly. Makeup artists attached them to the skin and different designs on the face were applied. MIT MEDIA LAB Agosto 2015 Octubre 2015 KATIA FABIOLA CANEPA VEGA
Proyectos de investigación Fluxa Fluxa, a compact wearable device that exploits body movements, as well as the visual effects of persistence of vision (POV), to generate mid-air displays on and around the body. When the user moves his/her limb, Fluxa displays a pattern that, due to retinal afterimage, can be perceived by the surrounding people. We envision Fluxa as a wearable display to foster social interactions. It can be used to enhance existing social gestures such as handwaving to get attention, as a communicative tool tha MIT MEDIA LAB Setiembre 2015 Setiembre 2016 KATIA FABIOLA CANEPA VEGA
Proyectos de investigación Haptic Interface The power of feedback loops as tactics for self-sustainable change, in the fabric of everyday life, through enchanted bodily worn objects. HONG KONG BAPTIST UNIVESITY Febrero 2012 Noviembre 2012 TRICIA FLANAGAN
Proyectos de investigación TREG TREG, the Training in Requirements Engineering Game was based on a specific prototyping process entitled "The Effective Prototyping Process for Software Makers". Three implementation strategies were used for this development, namely, Branching Stories, a simulation game genre for mapping the scenarios, Scenarios for specifying the gameplay and UML diagrams customized for showing TREG perspectives and facilitating its implementation in Second Life. Finally, usability tests and its results are PUC RIO Agosto 2008 Febrero 2010 KATIA FABIOLA CANEPA VEGA
Proyectos de investigación Blinklifier: The power of feedback loops for amplifying expressions through bodily worn objects The main motivation of this research is to gain a better understanding of the power of feedback loops by finding the zone somewhere between passively offering information and aggressively pumping out data that gets ignored along with all the other media noise. The answer we believe lies in creating compelling, aesthetic solutions that appeal to our senses and fuse seamlessly with our everyday lives. HONG KONG BAPTIST UNIVESITY Febrero 2012 Enero 2013 TRICIA FLANAGAN
Proyectos de investigación Hairware: The conscious use of unconscious auto-contact behaviors Hairware acts as a capacitive touch sensor that detects touch variations on hair and uses machine learning algorithms in order to recognize user’s intention. Artificial hair extensions were chemically metalized for acquiring electrical conductivity and also keeping a natural coloration. We added layers of non- conductive hair extensions that are added for isolating the hair from the skin. Also, these layers improved the capacitor sensor values.
