VASQUEZ MARTINEZ RODOLFO

Ingeniero Forestal, egresado de la Universidad Nacional de la Amazonía Peruana, Perú (UNAP); con 40 años de experiencia en taxonomía de plantas vasculares, parcelas permanentes, trabajo con comunidades rurales y estudiantes de pregrado; fui docente a tiempo parcial en la UNAP, en 1984 y 1985. Fui investigador de campo asociado al Missouri Botanical Garden desde el 1987 hasta 1993, y desde el 1993 hasta diciembre del 2009, Curador Asistente y Director de Programa en el Perú, del Missouri Botanical Garden. Desde el 1999 al presente, presidente del directorio de la ONG Jardín Botánico de Missouri (JBM), e investigador principal de los proyectos del JBM. Soy autor o coautor de 174 artículos científicos y autor, coautor, colaborador o editor de 11 libros de la especialidad. He servido como instructor para capacitar personal técnico, guardaparques, y público en general sobre identificación botánica de plantas vasculares y monitoreo de vegetación y fauna terrestre, en cursos y talleres organizados por el JBM, SERNANP, OSINFOR, IIAP, MINAM-FAO. Lo que me ha valido para calificar como investigador científico en el RENACYT, Código: P0021354, Grupo: Carlos Monge Medrano, Nivel: 1. Hasta la fecha he recibido al menos 18 distinciones por mi producción científica. Realizo al menos 5 expediciones anuales para colectar plantas vasculares, lo cual me ha permitido colectar más de 47,000 especímenes botánicos de los que por lo menos 100 han resultado en ser designados como holótipos, de las cuales describí a 15 especies de árboles como especies nuevas para la ciencia y mi nombre es utilizado como epónimo para al menos 22 especies.

Proyectos de investigación A longitudinal study to test for the acclimation of individual trees to 4+ decades of climate change, and the consequences for tropical rainforests This project aims to improve our understanding of how Amazonian tree species are, or are not, acclimating to climate change, and the consequences for species performance and tropical forest dynamics. Understanding the capacity for tropical trees to respond to rising temperatures will increase knowledge of how environmental change affects rainforest species and will provide valuable information that can inform predictions and management strategies.
