Investigadora del departamento de Microbiología de la Facultad de Ciencias de la Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia, ganadora del Premio Nacional LORÉAL-UNESCO-CONCYTEC Por la Mujer en la Ciencia 2009 con el tema “Caracterización de las proteínas de adherencia de la Oncósfera de Taenia solium: Interacción con laminina y fibronectina”. El trabajo de investigacion lo realizo en el Laboratorio de Investigacion de Enfermedaes Infecciosas. Mi area de interes es en enfermedades infecciosas que son un problema de salud en el pais y en paises en desarrollo. actualmente nuestros estudios estan orientados a comprender el mecanismo de infeccion que usan algunos agentes infecciosos, la respuesta inmune del hospedero frente a Taenia solium, Trypanozoma cruzi, Echinococcus granulosus y Norovirus. para lo cual desarrollamos modelos in vitro e in vivo. Trabajamos con estudiantes de pre y Post grado tanto de nuestra universidad como de universidades de provincia y extranjeras.

En el NCC, se sabe muy poco sobre las proteínas E/S del parásito que modulan la respuesta inmunitaria del huésped. El objetivo del estudio es determinar si el parasito E/S proteínas con actividad TGFbeta que regulen la respuesta inmune del hospedero. Proyectos de investigación Tratamiento de la epilepsia con Planta Nativa Peruana “La Valeriana” usando un modelo animal de Neuroinfección parasitaria Determinar que el extracto Petroleó -éter o acuoso de Valeriana spp Nativa del norte del Perú, inhibe o reduce la frecuencia de crisis epiléptica en ratas con neurocisticercosis y en ratas inducidas con PTZ. La importancia y lo novedoso del estudio es que planteamos por primera vez evaluar el uso de la “Valeriana spp” nativa del Perú, para el tratamiento de la epilepsia, usando dos modelos animales: Un modelo animal de neurocisticercosis y modelo animal de epilepsia inducido con PTZ.
