BARRUTIA FEIJOO WALTER ESTEBAN
Walter E. Barrutia received a Chemical Engineering degree from San Marcos University in 1970. He was awarded an scholarship from Latin American Scholarship Program for American Universities (LASPAU) to pursue a Master degree in Engineering, at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. Once he received his Master degree in 1974, he returned to Peru for four years and worked as a College Professor. In 1978, he returned to Texas to work on his doctoral degree. He completed his doctoral degree in Operations Management. He worked for the E.I Dupont Co, during nine years, as a Senior Methods Analyst Engineer at the Laporte Plant in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Walter Barrutia taught at the University of Houston at Clear Lake Campus, Lamar University and Austin Community College, in Project management, Innovation Technology and Quality Assurance subjects. He served as Assistant to the President of Lamar University in Minority Students Affairs. He was involved with human development programs as a President of the Hispanic Business Professionals in South east Texas (1990-1993) and President of the American Society for Quality Control in South east Texas (1990-1992).
He returned to Peru in 1996, to improve the quality of higher education, He currently teaches Project Management and Quality Assurance courses at different graduate programs, including Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos, Universidad Nacional de Ingeniería and Catholic University.
He is a lecturer in Research Methodology, Innovation Technology, Accreditation systems, and Six Sigma topics. As ANR President Academic Adviser, he has e designed the National Accreditation System proposal, which become SINEACE Law in 1998. He has developed a strong academic and business network, at the national and international level.
In May 2010, he was appointed Academic Director of San Marcos University Graduate School, as part of the assignment of being Director of Chemical Engineering Graduate Department.
