VIEIRA LOPES  VITOR MANUEL

I received the Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering from the Instituto Superior Técnico, Portugal, in 2004. From 2008 to 2013, I was with the Energy Systems Modeling and Optimization Unit of the National Laboratory for Energy and Geology at Lisboa, Portugal, as a scientific researcher. I have been developing new data analysis methods and computational tools to set up predictive analytics on process systems engineering applications, working in collaborative academia-industry research projects and with colleagues of different fields: a) petrochemistry; b) agro and food industry; and, lately, c) renewable energy. These highly prolific associations were possible due to the transversal nature of my research activity, which has been mainly focused on developing reliable algorithms for data-driven modeling by combining methods/techniques from three main scientific domains: a) machine learning techniques; b) inverse modeling methods; and c) mathematical programming and optimization methods.
